The CU Belay Glasses are an innovative new way to use prisms. Upon wearing these glasses the belayer can see straight up while looking forward. They take little time to get used to and soon become a staple in any climber’s pack. These glasses are “the ultimate way to comfortably belay.”
On a recent trip to Europe I saw two men climbing together and while they were belaying each other they took turns wearing the CU belay glasses. It was a difficult route, they were both falling, and yet, when belaying they were looking straight ahead in a very relaxed stance. Upon closer inspection and some questioning I made an inquiry about the glasses’ origin, located the website and found out that the German inventor was to be in the US for a climbing trip soon. Shortly after I was meeting this man, Albi, his wife and their son in Fruita, CO. and I became the owner of my own pair of the CU belay glasses. It did not take long until I was a believer in this innovative new type of glasses. I approached Albi and asked if I could help him to distribute his product in the US, Canada, and Mexico. He agreed and powernplayusa.com, the North American counterpart to powernplay.com was created. We are here to offer you the world’s finest belay glasses.

Product Description:
The CU belay glasses are an innovative new way to use prisms. Upon putting these glasses on the belayer can see straight up while looking straight ahead. The high quality glass is not only very durable and clear but it actually magnifies as well. Rather than hinges a flexible steel frame is used. The design allows them to be worn over prescription glasses or sunglasses. Completing the package is a neck attachment cord and a foam-padded plastic case.
Testimonials:
Guys, the glasses are simply outstanding. I can’t believe I ever belayed without them. They were also quite the conversation piece; everyone was wondering where I got them. I even sent one of my projects. 🙂 Thanks!– Mike Hey Albi, Hope you are well. I’ve now been using the CU glasses for about 6 weeks and they are grrrrrrreat! Really, no painful neck, no headaches, no painkilling medication needed any more! My regular climbing partner wears them always, although initially thought he would never use them.– Peter

Hi Albi went climbing indoors today, tried out the belay glasses. They are excellent, better than I expected and they save me from having headaches after about 1 hour belaying. I have no problem recommending these and as I am the only one wearing them they create quite a bit of curiosity and questions.– Shaun
Hello: I received the glasses and I just wanted to tell you what they mean to me. I have been a professional climber now for 41 years. Whether it is as a sponsored climber or a guide, or a gear tester or a gym owner I have always made my living by climbing. Recently (3 years ago) I had some serious injuries (a 23 foot fall off of a dry tool and landed in a sitting position and pretty much destroyed my neck.) I broke part of C6 and the bone ended up in the nerve canal of c7 and also the disks for c5, c6, c7 were gone, destroyed. I had an operation where the vertebrate were cleaned out of the bone fragments and a cage was built around the vertebrates. My pain level went from a constant 7 to a ZERO!! Boy it felt great but there was one big problem. I could no longer raise my head up to see. So I could no longer look at a route I was going to climb, no longer belay, in other words my career as a climber was over. Two days after the operation My wife, Lena, was reading the Canadian Climbing Magazine called Gripped. and they had a small product review about your glasses. She insisted I try them ASAP so I went about trying to contact you. Now that I have a pair I credit you with saving my career. The glasses have really made my life worth living again as now I can again climb. I really can’t thank you enough for what you have done. I would like to ask you though to send some more literature over to me so I can give it out every chance I get. May God bless your endeavors and thank you so much for what you have done. Off belay,Frank Abissi

Hi Albi, I am delighted with the glasses and have passed on the link to other members of my climbing club who might be interested. Thanks again!– Judy
