Lander, Wyoming will welcome the 12th Annual International Climbers’ Festival July 7-10, 2005. The festival, started in 1994 by local climbers as a celebration of climbing, is a long weekend of events in Lander and at the world-famous climbing areas nearby.
The weekend’s events include a volunteer trail building day in Sinks Canyon State Park; a trade fair featuring music, activities, food, and booths; slide shows; a film festival; great parties every night; free meals hosted by festival sponsors; and, of course, days of climbing.
Patagonia Ambassador Lynn Hill is the featured speaker this year, and will be presenting a slide show on Friday evening at 8PM.
The festival offers participants a number of clinics to choose from. This year’s lineup includes the popular cliff rescue seminar and a Sport Climbing Techniques and Tips clinic hosted by Patagonia Ambassador Lynn Hill. Arno Ilgner, author of The Rock Warrior’s Way, will be sponsoring two clinics on mental training for boulderers and climbers. Backpacker Magazine’s Get Out More road team will host a clinic on Backpacking Basics as well. Space is limited for all clinics. Those who wish to participate must sign up early and must purchase a festival ticket.
“The festival is growing, and it’s getting better every year,” said Leslie Van Orman, volunteer coordinator for the International Climbers’ Festival. “More and more climbers are hearing about the party that we throw here and are coming to join us — plus we have incredible sponsor support. This year is going to be the best yet.”
