Emily Harrington nabbed the first female ascent of Rifle’s The Seven P.M. Show on June 25th. A benchmark 5.14a in the canyon, The Show starts with “filler” climbing to a V8/9 crux, more filler climbing, a V7/8 crux, and then roughly 15 feet of 5.12+. Harrington redpointed the route after roughly six days of work. This marks the second 5.14a redpointed by the Boulder, Colorado resident in Rifle, following Zulu in October of 2005.
Ascending through the central, steepest portion of the Winchester Cave, The Seven P.M. Show saw its first ascent by Frenchman J.B. Tribout in 1996, and was originally given the grade of 5.14b. Now, The Show likely sees the most redpoints of any 5.14a in Rifle Mountain Park.Comment on this story
