The third UIAA/ ICC World Cup Event of 2005 took place this past weekend in Imst, Austria, where Angela Eiter of Austria and Flavio Crespi of Italy climbed into first place.
This was the hat-trick victory for 18-year-old Eiter in the Difficulty climbing arena, her other two victories took place in Puurs, Belgium and Veliko Tranovo, Bulgaria earlier this season. The win contributes heavily to her first place status at the top of the world-ranking chart. Second place went to Sandrine Levet, who also captured the UIAA Women’s Bouldering Cup this past April and March, proving that she is a force to be reckoned with in two divisions.
For Men’s Difficulty, Crespi carved out his win, adding to his first and second placements in World Cup events so far. Ramon Julian Puigblanque of Spain took second, standing up against a very stout collection of climbers, including Paxti Usobiagia.
The participants from the United States were Vadim Vinokor at 11th, Emily Harrington as she pulled in at 12th, and Elizabeth Asher at 33rd.
