A big thank you to all those who offered their support!
The definitive film profiling the life and work of Andy Parkin – regarded as one of the world’s finest alpine climbers – is being launched at this year’s Kendal Film Festival.
The 30 minute documentary, shot over 2 years by Blue Hippo Media and Weekday Productions, provides a powerful insight to the life of a remarkable man who, in 1984, suffered a near fatal Alpine climbing accident. Many then believed Andy’s love affair with the mountains to be over.

His slow, painful rehabilitation involved both painting and sculpture of the mountains that so nearly claimed his life. Incredibly Andy learned to climb again, adapting his style to the demands of his damaged body. Andy is known, today, as much for his inspirational artwork as his climbing. The film explores the determined character behind his rehabilitation and creative triumphs.
Producer, Pip Piper, co-founder of Blue Hippo Media, says:” This film has been an extraordinary collaborative journey of discovery for both Andy and us as film-makers. We spent significant time exploring how the documentary might evolve. We believe the result is a most unusual and evocative film in the climbing genre. The team is very excited about its having been selected for a World Premiere at the 2008 Kendal Mountain Film Festival.”
