The event has become an institution in the climbing world. It has seen generations of climbers attend over a 22-year span – Chris Sharma was only 1 year old when the first contest was held. Some climbers now bring their children who compete along side them. Will the event continue to happen? In 1999, the contest did not happen for the first time in 17 years. Will there be another event in? Only continued sponsorship and competitor support will ensure future events.
