Inspired by the sheer variety of climbing around Ben Nevis and Glen Nevis, Dave MacLeod devised the 24/8 challenge, which he explains as "all the grade eights in a day." That includes: an 8A/V11 boulder problem, E8/5.13c trad route, 8a/5.13b sport route, a grade VIII (8) winter route, and 8 Munros (a Scottish term for a peak over 3,000 feet), all in under 24 hours. MacLeod had the idea years ago, but said that "it's so rarely in condition. I reckon in the past 10 years, it's probably been in condition four or five days." On March 19, 2018, he went for it.
