Hard Indoor Crack Climb in Texas

After four months of effort Ian Watson of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area has made the coveted second top rope ascent of the Southwest's most challenging indoor crack climb at Summit Climbing Gym (www.summitrockgym.com) in Grapevine, Texas. The slightly overhanging, thin finger crack Waiting for a Friend (5.13a) was sculpted by Brian Clark of Eldorado Climbing Walls and first climbed, on lead, in March of 2002 by Marcus Garcia of Dallas, Texas. The challenging, artificial splitter still awaits a ground-up flash or onsight ascent.
