PsicoRoc is the first deep water solo competition to be held on real rock in the US. The event took place at Summersville Lake at the West Virginia’s New River Gorge. Athletes were scored on their performances on established routes, with the exception of Sean McColl, who finished the competition by bagging the FA of a 55 foot 5.13d variation that ends with a deadpoint over all that water.
Normally, deep water soloing and cliff jumping are prohibited at Summersville Lake, but the New River Alliance of Climbers (NRAC) was given special permission by the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Huntington District for the competition.
Over a thousand volunteer hours went into organizing PsicoRoc, and proceeds were given to NRAC. Click here to make donations to NRAC to support New River Gorge climbing and future events.
