US Olympic Climbing Team head coach, Josh Larson, coaches from a distance. “I don’t want to smother anyone, I don’t want to push my ideas onto anyone else,” he says. Larson understands that each athlete has their own background of effective training, and whatever they have done to get to this point, has worked.

When Larson began coaching, he wanted to be a resource for his team. If you wanted a new boulder problem, a wicked pump, or a water bottle, he had your back. Once he gained the trust of the athletes around him, he got to work honing their strength and skills. Now, he’s working with USA’s best on the Olympic stage. “I never thought I’d be a coach in the Olympics. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime.”
