Montana climbers Jonathan Scott and Inge Perkins chalk up for the deeply cut limestone chasm of Natural Bridge near the climber town of Bozeman. With cryptic movement, brilliant arches, and rushing water, this rugged, scenic climbing area was discovered in the early 1990s by core climbers Tom Wells and Alec Tkach, and it has recently become a hot spot for local crushers to make their mark through repeats of 5.13+ testpieces and even harder first ascents. As Scott says, “Why travel when you can stay home and get the goods in your backyard?” Below the Surface offers a glimpse into this undiscovered and unique Montana crag.
